"This is a Listening Exercise" is a study on the interaction of metallic tone when introduced into a space or environment. The film takes the form of an exercise, asking the viewer to consider how a single metallic tone interacts with a number of different surroundings through a repeated, ritualistic action.
The piece investigates the physical presence of sound, the life and vibrancy of metal, and the intertwining of organic and inorganic to create new posthuman physical and sonic possible bodies.
The film was recorded in an ambisonic format for immersion of the viewer, to place them as closely as possible to the site of this interaction as possible.
